Private Well Water Testing

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recommends annual testing of any private drinking wells, which should include a bacteriological test. A nitrate test is also recommended for households with pregnant women and/or children under 6 months old.

To purchase a well water testing kit, contact the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene at 1-800-442-4618 or the Kenosha County Division of Health at 262-605-6700.
