One way to promote a healthy community is by providing recreational opportunities such as a visit to the beach. North Beach is one of Racine's two Lake Michigan bathing beaches. It was the first Blue Wave Certified beach in Wisconsin and the second on the Great Lakes, holding that honor continuously since 2004. North Beach has been recognized elsewhere as well, including as one of the "Top 7 Urban Beaches in the Midwest" and "25 Coolest Midwest Lake Vacation Spots" by Midwest Living Magazine.

Other recreational opportunities in the community include: 

• Strolling through the Racine Zoo, voted as the top destination in Racine.
• Playing a round of golf at one of several courses throughout the City.
• Taking a ride through the Pershing Park Skateboard Park or down one of the City's bicycle paths.
• Visiting any of the 86 parks maintained by Racine's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services.
