Communicable Disease
A communicable disease can be transmitted from one person to another by direct or indirect contact. Communicable diseases include common, usually treatable ailments such as influenza (flu), varicella (chicken pox), and some sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea and chlamydia. Some communicable diseases can be more serious, such as anthrax, tuberculosis, and smallpox.
Wisconsin Statute 252.05 and Chapter HFS 145 require certain communicable diseases to be reported to the local health department.
