Payment Information from prior years  

If you require up to date information on parcels from prior years, please go to the County Website at: http://www.racineco.com/ for more information.  

 

Method of Payments  

Cash, Check or Money Order – In office
Check or Money Order – Mail
Credit Card – Telephone or Online
 

 

Please note: We do not accept starter checks  

 

Mail your payment  

Mail your current tax payment with the coupon to our bank at:

Milwaukee, WI 53288-0661


Send the coupon with your check or money order and/or write your parcel number on the check or money order so that payment is applied correctly.

Endorse your two party mortgage escrow check.

Receipt date will be based on date received in our office or lock box.

Receipts will only be returned to the owner for the parcels with a delinquent balance.

DO NOT combine any other payments with your tax payments.A separate check must be remitted for current property taxes. Including any other payment with your current tax payment will significantly delay receipt of your taxes.  

 

Pay by Credit Card  

To pay your taxes by credit card, call the toll-free number1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-888-272-9829) or visit www.officialpayments.com.

Official Payments Corporation, the credit card service provider, charges a convenience fee based on the amount of the transaction.

To use this service you will be required to enter the jurisdiction code 5870, your eight-digit real estate parcel number or nine-digit personal property parcel number (found on the front of the tax bill) as well as your credit card information.

Residential taxpayers must select real estate tax.

Personal property tax is a tax on tangible property of business owners.


We DO NOT accept Credit Card payments in office or by mail.  

 

Refunds  

Cash refunds of $10 or less will be made in the treasurer’s office.

If your payment is mailed, refunds under $5 must be picked up at the treasurer’s office.

Refunds $10 and over will be mailed.

All overpayment refund checks will be mailed in about 4-6 weeks.

Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:55 p.m.


Please note: Due to staff reduction, any transactions occurring after 4:30pm may require our office to issue a hand written receipt. A computer issued receipt will be mailed to you the next business day.

Receipt Date  

Receipt date is determined by the date paid in person, the postmark date or the date of the credit card transaction.

Mailed payments must be postmarked by December 31 to be receipted within that year.

2014 payments will be accepted in the office through January 5, 2015.

Mailed payments must be postmarked by December 31, 2014 to be receipted with a 2014 date.


Payments made in person after January 5, 2015, postmarked after December 31, 2014 or made through Official Payments after December 31, 2014 will be receipted with a 2015 date.  

 

Due dates/Late fees  

Either payment in full or the first installment is due by:
January 31, 2015.

If your tax bill qualifies and you chose to pay in installments, due dates for subsequent installments are:

March 31, 2015
May 31, 2015
July 31, 2015


If any installment is received late, you no longer qualify for the installment plan and the entire remaining balance will be considered delinquent.  

 

PER WISCONSIN STATUTE AND CITY OF RACINE ORDINANCE ALL DELINQUENT TAXES ARE SUBJECT TO INTEREST AND PENALTY OF 1.5% PER MONTH OR FRACTION OF A MONTH FROM FEBRUARY 1 UNTIL PAID IN FULL.
