Mail your current tax payment with the coupon to our bank at:

Receipt date will be based on date received in our office or lock box.

Receipts will be returned to the owner of record only for the parcels with a delinquent balance.

Endorse your two party mortgage escrow check.

Do not combine any other payments with your property taxes.

A separate check must be remitted for current property taxes. Including any other payment with your current tax payment will significantly delay receipt of your taxes.

Pay by CREDIT CARD over the telephone or Internet.

To pay your taxes by credit card call the toll-free number, 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800-272-9829) or visit www.officialpayments.com. Official Payments Corporation, the credit card service provider, charges a convenience fee based on the amount of the transaction. To use this service you will be required to enter the jurisdiction code 5870, your eight-digit real estate parcel number or nine-digit personal property parcel number (found on the front of the tax bill) as well as your credit card information. Residential taxpayers must select real estate tax. Personal property tax is a tax on tangible property of business owners.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS IN PERSON OR BY MAIL.

Cash refunds of $10 or less will be made in the treasurer’s office.


If your payment is mailed, refunds under $5 must be picked up at the treasurer’s office. Refunds $5 and over will be mailed.

All overpayment refund checks will be held for at least 4 weeks before disbursement.

LONG LINES ARE EXPECTED DURING TAX COLLECTION SEASON.

The Treasurer’s office is located in Room 103 of City Hall. Property tax payments will be receipted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:55 p.m. Monday through Friday. We will be closed on the following days: Monday, December 24, 2012; Tuesday, December 25, 2012; Monday, December 31, 2012 and Tuesday, January 1, 2013.  

Receipt Date

Receipt date is determined by the date paid in person, the postmark date or the date of the credit card transaction. 2012 payments will be accepted in the office through Wednesday, January 3, 2013. Mailed payments must be postmarked by December 31, 2012 to be receipted with a 2012 date. Payments made in person after January 3, 2013, postmarked after December 31, 2012 or made through Official Payments after December 31, 2012 will be receipted with a 2013 date.

Due Dates/Late Fees

 Either payment in full or the first installment is due by January 31, 2013. If your tax bill qualifies and you chose to pay in installments, due dates for subsequent installments are April 1, 2013, May 31, 2013, and July 31, 2013. IF ANY INSTALLMENT IS RECEIVED LATE, YOU NO LONGER QUALIFY FOR THE INSTALLMENT PLAN AND THE ENTIRE REMAINING BALANCE WILL BE CONSIDERED DELINQUENT. PER WISCONSIN STATUTE AND CITY OF RACINE ORDINANCE ALL DELINQUENT TAXES ARE SUBJECT TO INTEREST AND PENALTY OF 1.5% PER MONTH OR FRACTION OF A MONTH FROM FEBRUARY 1 UNTIL PAID IN FULL.
